(YorkPedia Editorial):- Los Angeles, Mar 26, 2019 (Issuewire.com) – Cultural consultant and French-language teacher Angele Kadima-Nzuji Kabwasa’s debut book, “Song Of The Mermaid: and Other Folk Tales from the Congo” is a collection of short stories that highlight the rich and diverse traditional customs and way of life in Africa, particularly in Congo, widely known as the heart of the continent.
When she was young, Kabwasa often listens to the village storyteller, Tatu Mupuila. On Saturdays towards sundown, he sings songs and chants prayers with his likembe (thumb piano) to an audience of neighbourhood kids. From this memory, the author reproduces some of the best stories she remembers from Mapuila.
