A 2006 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Kundel completed her residency in surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in 2008, followed by her fellowship in endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medical Center-Presbyterian Hospital in 2009. Thereafter, she completed her residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center in 2012, followed by her fellowship in endocrine & metabolic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 2013.

That same year, she became board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
