Leving firm secures win for dad

(YorkPedia Editorial):- Chicago, Jun 11, 2020 (Issuewire.com) – There are mothers who seem to think they can take their child away from the child’s father anytime they want — and unless fathers have the proper legal documents, they often get away with it.

This week on the Dads Rights Legal Hour, at 9-10 a.m. Saturday on Power 92.3 FM in Chicago, matrimonial attorney Jeffery M. Leving will talk about a case where his client was a father whose ex reportedly planned to take away his child forever.

More on YorkPedia:

The story involves a never-married couple who had a child. The parents moved around for a while, together and separately. Now they’re separate, with father and child in Illinois and the mother out of state.

Recently, the mother notified dad that she intended to drive here and take the child to live with her, permanently, many hundreds of miles away, according to court documents. Dad was concerned he’d never see his child again, and there was a good chance he’d be right.

The Leving legal team went to court via Zoom and advised the judge that the father has a right to live and spend time with his child, that the child being uprooted from the father’s home would harm the child, possibly irreparably, that the mother has had limited contact with the child, and the father fears for the child’s safety.

“Thanks to the hard work of my firm’s litigators in drafting this critical petition, presenting it to the court via Zoom and strongly advocating for our client, the judge was convinced. We won. He issued a sweeping court order in favor of the father: A temporary restraining order preventing the child from being taken away from dad, and exclusive possession of the child being granted to the father. This order is a big relief for dad, who can sleep at night knowing that if and when anyone shows up to take his child, he has a court order in his hands, and if necessary the police can be brought in to enforce it,” said Leving, founder and president of the Law Offices of Jeffery M. Leving Ltd.

“The dad I’ll talk about on the radio on Saturday is sure glad he called me. As Father’s Day comes around next week, he’ll be celebrating it at home with his child, not alone,” Leving said.
