He is the Chief of the Division of Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at Boston School of Medicine. Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Dr. Mercier is board-certified in diagnostic radiology with a certificate of added qualifications in nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Radiology. Established in 1934, the American Board of Radiology is a not-for-profit physician-led organization with headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. It oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Radiology is the medical discipline that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the body. Nuclear cardiology studies use noninvasive techniques to assess myocardial blood flow, evaluate the pumping function of the heart as well as visualize the size and location of a heart attack.
