In regards to his educational background, he graduated from Naval Hospital Corpsman School in 1982. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Northern Illinois University in 1990 and earned his medical degree from the Finch University of Health Sciences, Chicago Medical School in 1995. He then went on to complete his internship at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in 1996 and completed his training in undersea and hyperbaric medicine at the Naval Undersea Medical Institute in 1997. Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM) and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
