He entered the practice as a partner specializing in pediatric and adult sports medicine and total joint replacement. In his role as a practice partner, he further rounds out gO Orthopedics’ highly specialized and comprehensive orthopedic program, providing young patients singular access to his unique expertise in pediatric orthopedic care.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Clifton earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He then completed his surgical internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Subsequently, he completed an additional residency in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Cook Children’s Hospital and was selected for a prestigious fellowship in pediatric and adult sports medicine at the University of New Mexico.
Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Among his other roles, Dr. Clifton is currently the Co-Medical Director for the NCAA teams at Western State University. He has authored or co-authored numerous articles published in prestigious scientific journals. In the past, he served as a team physician for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the University of New Mexico Lobo Athletics.
