Back in 1958, Dr. Horton graduated with his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Medical Center, his internship at Swedish Medical Center in 1959, and an additional residency in internal medicine at UCLA-VA Greater Los Angeles in 1961.
He furthered his training with a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at the University of California (San Francisco) in 1962. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the said establishment in 1963.
An elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, Dr. Horton is also a Professor Emeritus at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California.
