New York City, Jan 18, 2023 (Issuewire.com) – Dr. Dickson is a certified optometrist with Pearle Capstone Eye Associates, located within Pearle Vision with locations throughout the Greater Tampa Bay Area, Florida.
Passionate about providing personalized, patient-focused eye care, she practices full-scope optometry, including spectacle and contact lens correction, as well as ocular disease management and advanced contact lens fittings. She is committed to staying on the cutting edge of medicine and technology to provide the absolute highest level of care.
“At Pearle Capstone Eye Associates, we are a dedicated team of eye care experts that provide you and your family the highest quality eye care experience. Combined with our personal commitment to care for the person behind the eyes, our state-of-the-art technology and equipment allow us to provide you with an optimal vision care solution designed just for you” as stated on their website.
In regard to her educational background, Dr. Dickson’s undergraduate studies took place at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. There, she studied psychology to better understand the human dynamic before knowing she would eventually pursue an education and career in optometry. “Previously, I volunteered for a training center for the blind. Helping those individuals overcome the obstacles they faced from their visual impairments inspired me to learn how to keep peoples’ eyes healthy and maximize their visual potential,” she states.
Dr. Dickson’s philanthropic spirit has brought her across the globe. While receiving her doctorate from the Michigan College of Optometry, where she graduated with high honors, she took part in mission trips to Bulgaria and South Africa, providing eye exams and glasses for people living in poverty, and working to finish construction on a school in a remote South African community.
Her clinical experience has exposed her to many eye conditions and diseases, as well as advances in technology and treatment options. She completed rotations at the Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Grand Rapids, MI as well as the Eye Institute of West Florida in Largo, FL. Now, she is in practice with Pearle Vision, where she enjoys treating individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Her current endeavors include specialty contact lens fitting and advanced treatment of dry eye disease, and she plans to grow these areas to include a myopia management clinic and dry eye spa.
Dr. Dickson is an active member of the Pinellas Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Optometry Divas. Outside of work, she and her husband enjoy spending time with their three young children, frequenting the many parks, playgrounds, and beaches that the Tampa Bay Area has to offer.
Optometry is a healthcare profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
