An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in vascular surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Highly respected within the medical community, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a Distinguished Fellow of the Society of Vascular Surgery. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Outpatient Endovascular and Interventional Society and is a member of the American Venous Forum. Additionally, he is a section editor of the journal Vascular Disease Management.

Dr. Gagne’s career highlights include his service as a general and vascular surgeon in the United States Navy and is the first surgeon in Connecticut to implant a drug-eluting stent to treat a person with peripheral arterial disease. He has also been the principal investigator in several multi-center clinical trials.

Prior to establishing Vascular Care Connecticut, he worked as the Director of the Vascular Research Laboratory at New York University’s Hospitals Center and was a member of New York University’s Vascular Associates.
