The US has issued the sanction of the deployment of the Russian made missile defense system to the fellow Nato ally of Turkey. This advanced military system was acquired last year.

However, the US said that the S-400 surface-to-air missile launching system is not compatible with the Nato Technology and appears to be a threat to the Euro- Atlantic alliance.

At Turkey’s weapon procurement sector, the state department declared about the sanction on Monday.

The action is quickly condemned by the officials of Turkey and Russia. The Us has already suspended Turkey out of the F-35 fighter jet program over the purchase of a Russian missile system.

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo said in a statement, “The United States made clear to Turkey at the highest levels and on numerous occasions that its purchase of the S-400 system would endanger the security of US military technology and personnel and provide substantial funds to Russia’s defense sector, as well as Russian access to the Turkish armed forces and defense industry,”

He further added, “Turkey nevertheless decided to move ahead with the procurement and testing of the S-400, despite the availability of alternative, Nato-interoperable systems to meet its defense requirements,”.

He said with a clear notion that “I urge Turkey to resolve the S-400 problem immediately in coordination with the United States,”.

Turkey’s Defense Industries Directorate president Ismail Demir along with three others are the target of this sanction. They put up a ban against the US Export license and any other product which is under the USJurisdiction.

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry has pleaded with the US to “reconsider this unfair decision as announced today”. The ministry continued with the indication that Turkey is “ready to address this issue through dialogue and diplomacy in conformity with the spirit of alliance”.

The ministry also warned that this sanction “will inevitably negatively impact our relations, and (Turkey) will retaliate in a manner and time it sees appropriate”.

It is being told that The Russian missile system was purchased after the US has refused to sell their patriot missiles.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said about this US decision as “another manifestation of an arrogant attitude towards international law.”

Mr. Lavrov further added, “A manifestation of illegitimate, unilateral coercive measures that the United States has been using for many years, already decades, left and right,”.
