A sweeping investment plan for jobs is laid out by US President Joe Biden. The plans are also laid for the social care sector and education in his very first speech in the joint session of Congress.

The speech has been delivered on his 100th day in the office. The Democrat has pitched something around $4 trillion (2.9 million pounds) in spending. According to analysts, this is the largest overhaul of the US benefits since the 1960s.

He has also called this a once-in-a-generation investment for the American itself. But before they became law, the plans are going to face a battle in Congress.

The proposal has received widespread opposition from the Republican Party that is very unlikely to back more government spending and tax increases.

In both the houses, there is a slim Democratic majority, and there has also been a division among the party and the party is divided on how far they can move with the current plans.

It was a historic moment, when Kamala Harris, the US Vice-President who is the first woman to hold the office, and Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, both sat behind President Joe Biden during the address on Wednesday night. It was for the very first time that the two women have appeared behind the president during the speech to Congress.

Mr. Biden addressed Ms. Harris in his opening remark as Madam Vice President and said that no President has ever used these words from the podium and added that it’s about time.

The President is 78 years of age, and he is buoyed by solid approval ratings. He went on to present the American Families Plan and American Jobs Plan. The White House also said that the proposals are going to be funded by the wealthiest Americans and tax raises.

At an event that has been scaled back due to the pandemic, Mr. Biden has said that it is time for the wealthiest 1% and corporate America to pay their fair share.

He also went on to describe the American Jobs Plan as an important blue-collar blueprint to build America. This is going to boost investment in roads and bridges, high-speed broadband, and public support. He further added that the plans are going to be guided by the fight against climate change.

He also adds that he thinks of jobs when he thinks about climate change. There are no reasons at all that the American workers cannot lead the entire world in the mass production of electric batteries and vehicles.

He said that according to the $1.8 tn American Families Plan, it is going to mainly focus on children. It would provide free pre-school for those children who are between the age of three to four. It will also provide health insurance subsidies along with paid medical and family leave. Tuition will be free for all community colleges along with various other facilities.
