Robeela Ruby Deans, FNP, for Her Compassionate Leadership Across Emergency, Psychiatric, and Palliative Care

Dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner Brings More Than 30 Years of Nursing Experience to a Patient-Centered Approach Focused on Healing, Support, and Whole-Person Wellness
(YorkPedia Editorial):- Bartlett, Illinois Jun 18, 2026 (Issuewire.com) – For more than three decades, Robeela Ruby Deans, FNP, has dedicated her career to guiding patients and families through some of life’s most challenging and meaningful moments. With extensive experience spanning emergency medicine, psychiatric care, palliative medicine, hospice, and family practice, she has built a reputation for clinical excellence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Robeela began her nursing career in 1995 after earning her Undergraduate Degree from Loyola University Chicago. Driven by a desire to expand her impact in patient care, she later completed her nurse practitioner training at Saint Xavier University and entered advanced practice in 2005.
Her early career as a registered nurse in the emergency department laid the foundation for her ability to remain calm under pressure while delivering exceptional care. She later served as a nurse practitioner in a Level II trauma center for 15 years, where she honed critical clinical skills and developed a deep appreciation for the emotional needs of patients and their loved ones during times of crisis.
Throughout her career, Robeela has embraced opportunities to serve diverse patient populations across multiple specialties. She spent seven years in psychiatric medicine, working with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of mental health challenges. During this time, she fostered long-term therapeutic relationships, helping patients navigate difficult periods in their lives and celebrating milestones alongside them.
Her greatest professional passion, however, emerged in palliative and hospice medicine. Board-certified in palliative and hospice care, Robeela devoted 12 years to palliative medicine and additional years to hospice services, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams that included oncology and heart failure specialists. She provided guidance, symptom management, and emotional support to patients and families coping with chronic illness and end-of-life transitions, including throughout the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The most rewarding part of practicing healthcare for me is helping people transition from one stage to another, especially in end-of-life care,” says Robeela. “I’ve been blessed to have had some wonderful patients, and at the end of the day, I walk away feeling like I did something good for them, and they feel the same way.”
She adds, “Building that personal relationship means so much more to me than just knowing my skills and being proficient. In psychiatric medicine, it’s been hugely satisfying to work with young people who were struggling and later watch them graduate from college and thrive. Some of them still keep in touch, and that makes me cheerful every day.”
In addition to her clinical work, Robeela has embraced leadership and mentorship roles throughout her career. She has trained nurse practitioner students from Loyola University Chicago, mentored newly practicing nurse practitioners, and educated community members through lectures focused on pain management, hospice care, and palliative medicine.
Today, Robeela is transitioning into urgent care while preparing to launch her own private practice. Her vision is to provide an integrated model of care that combines psychiatric services, family medicine emphasizing preventive health, nutrition and exercise counseling, and Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, for which she is also certified.
As she embarks on this new chapter, Robeela Ruby Deans remains guided by the same values that have shaped her career for more than 30 years: compassion, connection, and a commitment to improving the lives of those she serves. Through every stage of care, she continues to make a meaningful difference–one patient, one family, and one relationship at a time.
