CNPC Launches Mangrove-Planting Public Welfare Initiative in Thailand

Hosted by the China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd. (CPP), the event focused on coastal ecological protection and served as a bridge for green exchanges between China and Thailand, drawing broad support from local authorities and the public. Mangroves are among the most important marine ecosystems in Southeast Asia. At the event, staff from the Bang Pu Nature Education Centre gave an educational presentation on the ecological functions and conservation value of mangroves, provided a hands-on demonstration of the key steps involved in planting mangrove saplings, and answered questions about mangrove cultivation and ecological protection. After the presentation, Chinese and Thai participants formed groups and worked together seamlessly, following established planting procedures to complete a series of tasks, including digging holes, positioning the saplings, backfilling, firming the soil, and watering. With a clear division of labor and close cooperation, they took concrete action to bring new greenery to the coastal ecosystem. A total of 180 high-quality mangrove saplings were planted, injecting fresh vitality into the ecological restoration of the local coastal wetlands.

Xu Lan, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, and Shen Zhong, Deputy Director of the Corporate Culture Department of CNPC, jointly unveiled the base. The base will focus on science and innovation education, and will regularly host activities such as energy science programs, AI innovation education, and Chinese folk culture experiences, with the aim of inspiring young people’s interest in green energy and digital and intelligent technologies and nurturing a new generation of talent for sustainable development.
