The UK Is Opting For The Green Revolution To Meet Up Their Energy Crisis And Rising Prices
The UK is planning to provide their citizen with an energy revolution to partly power the homes of the country. On the east coast of Scotland, a small neighborhood is playing a major role to revolutionize the energy supply within three years.
300 homes in Buckhaven, the Methil along with the nearby areas of Levenmouth will be powered by green hydrogen gas. The project is called H100. They will be offered free hydrogen-ready boilers and cookers in the scheme along with the longevity of five and a half years.
This is historical that the National Grid plans to use something more than just natural gas in their supply chain as they will blend hydrogen with it. Buckhaven is been a former coal mining field.
A 200-meter turbine astounding in its size can be seen from the west coast. And the turbine will generate electricity to power the electrolyzer, which turns the water into hydrogen gas and oxygen. After that, the hydrogen will be stored in pressurized secure tanks in gets generated to various homes.
This is a 28 million euro project, funded by the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (OFGEM). And they will increase the number of houses to 1000 from the same turbine. Recently, the MPs on the Business and Energy and Industrial Strategies Committee said, ‘the government’s approach to decarburizing home heating lacked clear direction.’
They said, ‘current policies were not on the scale required, and rejected hydrogen as the main solution for greener home heating.’
Caroline Cunningham a fitness instructor in Buckhaven, she has signed up for the project can see the turbine from her home, said, ‘It’s super-exciting, she continues, ‘Something that’s literally a few hundred meters away from where I live, is going to send power and energy to the housing system.’
She notifies that the current state with rising gas prices because of the Russian invasion has increased the number in bills to an insane level. She said, ‘Hopefully we can get a more sustainable and a more stable energy source through hydrogen energy. And of course, it’s good for the environment as well.
She goes further by telling, ‘I think we’ve taken a lot from the world and it’s time that we move forward now on different types of energy sources, like the hydrogen energy.’
The east coast of Scotland is famous for the winds, Angus McIntosh from the Energy Company SNG is leading this project called H100 Fife, said, ‘Scotland is blessed with a lot of wind and a lot of rain and also natural resources’.
He explains more, ‘It’s got all the ingredients to become a hydrogen exporter, as well as more than enough hydrogen to supply its people.’ yet the job is pending but the optimistic approach will benefit all.
Mr. McIntosh shares that the project can be ‘absolutely’ scale-up, and says, ‘One of the things you’ve got to do to generate the interest in hydrogen production is create that market’. According to him, Hydrogen is widely welcomed by the customers.
